 Description
For those with a slightly smaller budget on hand, but a great enthusiasm for the outdoors, the Birdseer 80mm Standard Lenses Package is a comfortable package for beginners and professionals alike.

Having a good spotting scope coupled with a high quality digital camera, will output some of the best images ever! Sometimes don't you wish that you could bring home the beautiful bird you saw on your holiday in Malaysia or Florida? Well you could - photographically speaking, that is if you have a spotting scope and a digital camera. In general, a higher-quality spotting scope with a zoom eyepiece is the tool of choice among digiscopers worldwide. Not having a good spotting scope, can cause abberations and reduce sharpness and clarity in your images. Two models - the Nikon Coolpix and the Sony Cybershot cameras have swivel LCD screens relative to the lens, which is very useful to be able to control the position of the output screen.
The scope also ships with a FREE Digital Camera Holder for easy, trouble-free attachment of a digital or film camera so you can capture breathtaking views of distant scenery or wildlife. Used with a T-Ring made for the SLR camera of your choice, the lightweight Camera Holder provides a firm, light-proof connection between scope and imager, assuring you the best images or photos possible.

NIKON SPOTTING SCOPE RAIII 82 Olivone against T80
For many beginners, of ornithosis less "passionate" or simply tighter budget spending in 1000, 2000 EUR or more for a long-view is unthinkable. Unfortunately, the vast majority of models of inexpensive non-specialized are of a quality disaster. Should we then be resolved to abandon his project?
Nikon Spotting Scopes with her has made a very convincing answer to the problem. Now the Chinese-Canadian Olivone who knocks at the door with his T80. Let us compare both of these manufacturers 80mm, equipped with zoom 20-60.

DIMENSIONS
For an equivalent diameter (82mm to 80mm), the Nikon Spotting Scope is much shorter than the T80 Olivone, while a lighter 100aine grams. We will therefore

APPROVAL FOR USE
Once unpacked, we realize that Nikon has given careful attention to presentation, ergonomics and equipment of Spotting Scopes. Excellent bag handy, caps, wheel developed positioned ... for right, rubber coating, sunshade ... In short, everything-all-everything you need, and more on instruments that are four times the price of the Sino-Japanese!
Olivone made simpler, but simple and good. From a design without proper research, the instrument is a long tube coated with a nice rubber wheel with a developing effective and well located, and a necklace to rotate 360 ° on the shoe to the tripod mounting : big advantage for those who observe lying down or from the window of their car. Note that the hoof is of standard dimensions for mounting on tripods quick of the mark, but can receive any other types of fixation. Too large, rather flaccid, the cover Olivone, for against, is far from the near-perfection Nikon ... but it's there and will do its job properly. Sun visors and caps are there.
On both sides, the zoom will handle well, with a little more at Olivone, and wide lens Olivone is very comfortable. Nikon offers a beautiful Eyecup rigid "twist-up" qu'Olivon then left to the traditional rubber eyecup.
Progressive development is not optimal on the Spotting Scope, and better on the T-80.
In general, we give an

The cover of Do not Olivone that of Nikon, but otherwise the instruments are elbow to elbow in equipment and certification.
Good design, good optics, waterproof, compact price. Who says better?

OPTICAL PERFORMANCE
I compared the two side by side, observing the same targets, under the same conditions and at the same time.
The image of the T80, surrounded by a thin blue circle at minimum magnification with little impact and dispataît when you zoom a little, is stitched to the edge and bright, at least up to a magnification 40-45 x. Beyond that, the quality decreases and the image becomes gray.
This is hardly different with Spotting Scope whose image without color board and perhaps a touch more beautiful still, also loses its sex appeal when you push the zoom beyond 45x.

Even if they are equipped with lenses and prisms of good quality (BaK4) and fully processed multilayer, they are not part of the aristocracy of "high definition" and are not free of small halos and other reflections by bright lights and bad. Fringes of chromatism appear colored bands at edges of objects that are outside the scope of sharpness. Nothing catastrophic, however, provide reasonable magnification. These long-views offer both, performance more than satisfactory.
Overall, I a Slight advantage to the Spotting Scope on this item

COMPARISION DIGISCOPING
Images taken at the same time, with the same equipment (Sony DSC W5), under the same conditions (day, gray, soft light favorable to digiscoping). No treatment other than a balancing of the exposure (levels and Photoshop curves) and reduced size.
Olivone T80 - 30 x zoom lens Without ED without treatment, those long-views are not "stars" of digiscoping ... but they derive their thrive until the light is not too hard.
The sharpness is good, the chromatism reasonable. It will of course limited to the zoom magnification values of 20 to 30x if you want to avoid image degradation, but this also applies to most models huppés!
In short, they offer the opportunity to play with its digital compact without devastate his portfolio. Olivone and Nikon also offer excellent accessories for digiscoping.

RAIII 82 Spotting Scope - 30x zoom

PRICE / PERFORMANCE RATIO
The Nikon Spotting Scope RA III 82 A offers a beautiful design, equipment model, nice handling and a very satisfactory further enhanced by a beautiful selection of eyepieces. All this for a price more than reasonable and with 10 years warranty.
For a fraction of that price already compact, the T80 Olivone delight of those who do not have much design and classy accessories. Without fuss and without means, the Chinese Canadian offer a very economical and efficient but which is not grandstanding, but to observe the birds. The 20-60 zoom is provided with the long-view, but a good 32x wide field is also available. Guarantees are usually 2 years (no less than the Leica eye ... no comment!).
