Representing the mid-range aperture in the series and combining light-gathering power with ease of use, the Celestron CPC 925 GPS (XLT) 235mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope provides users with a complete rig for near- and deep-space observation and astrophotography. Optically, it features a Schmidt-Cassegrain light path consisting of a corrector plate, a spherical primary mirror, and a secondary mirror. Complementing the optical system is the proprietary StarBright XLT optical coating system that improves light transmission and reflectivity across the entire visual spectrum. The combination of optical components and the StarBright XLT system produces bright and clear high-resolution images with true color rendition across the entire field of view with minimal distortion, aberrations, or off-axis comas.

The brain of the entire system is the NexStar+ computer controller. Equipped with a database of over 40,000 objects, including the planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and the complete Messier catalog, it can also be programmed with up to 100 custom user-defined objects and have filters added for custom object lists. Its intuitive menu-driven user interface provides the power to observe the heavens with nine slew speeds and three tracking rates, plus anti-backlash compensation and Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC) for smoother movements in the motors and improved tracking over time. Features such as guided tours, extended information on 200 popular objects, and multiple alignment options make the NexStar+ controller easy to use and invaluable to new users and experienced stargazers.

The optical tube is outfitted with a standard 1.25" visual back to make it easier to find eyepieces, accessories, and imaging gear. For visual observations, a 1.25" star diagonal is included along with a 40mm Plössl eyepiece that yields 59x magnification. The motorized dual-tine fork mount has dual-axis servo motors that provide precision movements with minimal vibration and a high resolution. It also has an integrated 16-channel GPS receiver that sends information to the hand controller and requires limited input from the user. A heavy-duty stainless steel tripod helps reduce vibrations to ensure clear resolution during observation or imaging sessions.

Optical Tube
  • 235mm (9.25") aperture
  • f/10 focal ratio
  • 2350mm focal length
  • Schmidt-Cassegrain optical design
  • Fine-annealed Pyrex glass reduces internal light loss to improve color, clarity, and sharpness
  • StarBright XLT optical coating system
  • Internal focusing mechanism
  • Resolution: 0.59 arcsec (Rayleigh); 0.49 arcsec (Dawes)
  • Secondary mirror obstruction: 3.35" (85mm); 36% by diameter; 13% by area
StarBright XLT System
  • Maximizes light transmission through optical path
  • Improves color rendition, contrast, sharpness, resolution, and brightness
  • Broadband system provides flat wavelength transmission across the entire visual spectrum
  • Multi-layer mirror coatings with layers of aluminum, SiO2 (quartz), and TiO2 (titanium dioxide)
  • Multi-layer anti-reflective corrector plate coatings with layers of MgF2 (magnesium fluoride) and HfO2 (hafnium dioxide); hafnium has a wider band-pass than the commonly used titanium
  • High-transmission water white glass corrector plate limits light loss due to internal absorption
NexStar Hand Controller
  • 40,000+ object database
  • 100 user-defined programmable celestial or terrestrial objects
  • Expanded information on over 200 most popular objects including history, facts, and mythology
  • Nine slew speeds: 3°/sec, 2°/sec, 0.5°/sec, 64x, 16x, 8x, 4x, 1x, 0.5x
  • Three tracking rates: Sidereal, Solar, Lunar
  • Tracking modes: Alt-Azimuth, Equatorial North, Equatorial South
  • Multiple alignment procedures: Sky Align, Auto Two-Star, Two-Star, Solar System, EQ North, and EQ South
  • Tour Mode: System seeks out the best objects for the date and time and automatically slews to them
  • Constellation Tour: Takes the user on a tour of the best objects within a specific constellation
  • Identify Mode: Use to identify an unknown object in the field of view or to find other celestial objects that are close to where the user is viewing
  • Anti-backlash compensation: Trains out the intrinsic play between gears for more precise slewing and tracking
  • Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC): System learns its internal tracking errors and improves over time for more precise tracking, requiring fewer corrections
  • Built-in instructions guide users through the alignment procedures
  • 2-line, 16-character LCD display with 19-button fiber-optic backlit LED keypad
  • RS-232 comm port
  • Flash updatable via Internet
