The Dark 30 Defiance 640 PTZ is a rugged, vehicle-mounted thermal camera system designed for users who require flexible thermal observation from a mobile platform. Compact and relatively easy to install, it combines a 640 × 480 thermal sensor with pan-and-tilt capability, making it suitable for selected vehicle-based monitoring, patrol, and field observation applications.
Equipped with a 30mm F/1.0 germanium lens, the Defiance 640 PTZ offers a practical balance of image detail, detection capability, and field of view. The included 10.1" HD display and multiple mounting options help make this a more complete turnkey solution than many standalone thermal camera setups.
Installation can be adapted to a variety of vehicles using the included mounting accessories, including suction cups, high-strength magnets, a 2" riser, and permanent mounting hardware. This allows users to select the most suitable mounting method for their operational or field-use requirements.
Once installed, the system provides low-latency video to the included 10.1" 1920 × 1200 HD LCD display through a wired HDMI connection. Power is supplied through a 12V DC adapter. Pan, tilt, and zoom control can be managed using the included variable-speed wireless remote, with additional wireless control available through the Dark 30 mobile app for iOS and Android.
Additional features include multiple color palettes, IP66 weather protection, return-to-home function, sleep mode, continuous 360° panning, and 1.0–8.0× digital zoom. A waterproof hard case is included for transport and storage.
