What is a fusion Goggles? For night vision the choice for the
military and law enforcement has traditionally been between light
intensification and thermal imaging, either amplifying available visible
light no matter how low, or using a non-visible part of the spectrum,
infrared – each with advantages and disadvantages. Until now. Enter
GSCI’s QUADRO-G.
“With the Quadro-G, we’ve taken the core functionality of the Quadro-S
and pivoted away from its weapon mounted operation to instead focus on a
tactical goggle that is better suited for versatile, short-to-medium
range surveillance and reconnaissance,” said Andrew B., lead technician
at GSCI. “The Dual-Eyepiece design is paired with a lightweight,
helmet-mountable housing that makes the Quadro-G the only true fusion
system of its kind. The operator’s safety depends on the reliability and
adaptability of their equipment, and we’re proud to say we’ve created a
fusion system that does exactly that.”
In case you’re not
familiar with this technology yet, GSCI’s fusion systems operate in 4
distinct, manually-cycled modes: thermal, daytime, nighttime, and a
day/night hybrid view, aptly named Fusion mode. These channels work
together to produce a lag-free video image that gives the operator
unmatched situational awareness in any low-light scenario. GSCI’s fusion
technology is undeniably considered top-tier within the industry, which
is no surprise coming from a company that’s garnered a reputation for
high-end, professional-grade devices over the last two decades. The
Quadro-G is certainly no exception.
Fusion is the Future
Sensor technology has been expanding across more bands of the
electromagnetic spectrum than ever before while getting smaller, lighter
and more power efficient, but it still forces the soldier or law
enforcement officer to make a choice: visible light or infrared?
It was clear that a better solution would be to combine the
advantages of light intensification and infrared so as to overcome their
disadvantages. This is what Bertin Technologies, Night Optics, ITT
Exelis and Pyser Optics have been doing, but Canada’s General Starlight
Company, Inc. (GSCI) might just have done it better in the shape of the
QUADRO-G.

The
QUADRO-G is the new augmented vision goggles for tactical surveillance
and observation at short- and medium-range distances. Along
with selecting between visible/near-infrared and far-infrared (thermal)
channels individually, GSCI’s Unique Patented technology allows to
produce and display real-time, delay-free fusion image
that superimposes all ranges of the spectrum from its sensors to
successfully detect any target and defy poor lighting or weather
conditions. Wide field of view allows for better situation awareness.
The unit is small and lightweight, and yet made of a hard-anodized
aluminum for added strength and shock resistance. The unit is compatible
with most head gears and helmet mounts for hands-free operation.
Thanks
to GSCI’s patented multi-sensor technology, the QUADRO-G operates in 4
distinct modes: Thermal, Daytime, Nighttime and a day/night/thermal
Hybrid view, also known as the Fusion mode. On top of that, the QUADRO-G
comes loaded with many unique features that offer convenience and help
give the operator a tactical advantage. The beauty of the
QUADRO-G is that with the fusion mode you are never left in pitch
darkness. Both channels, complementing each other to produce real-time,
no-lag video image and unmatched situation awareness. This is achieved
by combining detailed images from the visible/near infrared and
long-wave infrared ranges of spectrum. The end result is a superb
detection and recognition capability.
