The Meade Instruments StarNavigator NG 125mm f/15 Maksutov-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope is ideal for users who want a portable yet powerful observation platform that is able to achieve high magnifications for detailed views of the Moon and planets and has the ability to reach out past our solar system to observe brighter deep-sky objects such as clusters and stars. The compact and powerful Maksutov design uses a front corrector plate with a convex meniscus lens to correct off-axis aberrations, like comas, and chromatic aberration to produce images with true-color rendition. The nature of the lens results in a smaller secondary mirrorlimiting obstruction and increasing contrast, while eliminating the need for periodic collimation. This optical path results in a slower focal ratio and narrower field of view versus a similar Schmidt-Cassegrain variant, but the optical benefits, when coupled with a precision tracking mount, make this an ideal scope for all types of celestial observations and astrophotography.

Driving the dual-axis DC servo motors in the single-arm fork mount is the AudioStar hand controller. This update to their iconic AutoStar enables quick and easy setup and alignment to get you observing faster, while offering guided tours and audio commentary on 500 of its over 30,000 objects in the internal database. For those who want to use it for astrophotography, an internal mirror flips down to direct the light path straight back for prime-focus photography using a DSLR camera body and optional adapters.
