Meopta’s MeoStar® HD Binocular Wins OutdoorLife’s “Editors Choice” Award
The new MeoStar® 10x42 HD binocular received the highest honor of “Editors Choice” against an elite field of competing binocular models from Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss and others.
“If status and brand are important to you, then plunk down $2,000.00
US $1,866.95 for a high-end European binocular, but if you want performance and durability on par with the best Austrian optics, then spend half that amount for this Czech powerhouse,” stated OutdoorLife in an excerpt from the June/July edition magazine test.
This year, OutdoorLife’s optics editor and a panel of hunters and optics experts assembled in Montana to evaluate the newest sports optics offerings for its annual gear test. Each entry is awarded an objective letter grade for overall optical quality, low-light capability, mechanical design and ergonomics in addition to rigorous scrutiny by the expert judges. OutdoorLife magazine presents its “Editor’s Choice” award to the optic with the highest overall score and Meopta’s newest binocular – the MeoStar® 10x42 HD – took top honors with four stars overall and A+ in optical performance.
The European built MeoStar® 10x42 HD is a rugged, full sized binocular featuring genuine fluoride objective lens elements. The fluoride elements eliminate chromatic aberration (CA) or color fringing by bringing light wavelengths into a tighter common focus along the optical axis delivering maximum resolution and vivid color fidelity. Proprietary MeoBright 5501 TM ion assisted lens coatings eliminate reflections and glare and deliver superior brightness and clarity. A comfortable ergonomic rubber armor surrounds its durable aluminum chassis while precision weather sealing and nitrogen purging keep the MeoStar® HD 100% waterproof and fogproof for life. “It’s truly an honor to be recognized by OutdoorLife and to have our new MeoStar® 10x42 HD binocular selected as “Editors Choice” against some very distinguished brands,” said Meopta USA GM Reinhard Seipp. “This prestigious award serves as confirmation to the accomplishments of our sports optics development team, to the product and the Meopta brand.”
Meopta makes only top notch optics, produced entirely in their Czech Republic facilities, with a focus upon brilliant color fidelity, performance & robust functionality in any conceivable condition with which a user would endeavor to observe. The company has been quietly designing supreme optics for a variety of industrial and consumer applications, so it only makes sense that they've finally entered the broad consumer market.
Meopta's 10x42 B1 MeoStar HD Binocular is where durability meets an unparalleled opto-mechanical performance. This optic provides a superior viewing experience by combining exceptional optics and a wide field of view in a lightweight and durable high-strength aluminum housing. The HD Extra-Low Dispersion fluoride glass lenses, MeoBright fully multi-coated optics, and phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan prisms deliver vivid true-color images that are bright and sharp across the entire field of view. The binocular's wide angle apparent field of view provides expansive views, while its short 8.5' close focus distance ensures that you get sharp close-ups. To ensure a worry-free experience, the lenses are also protected from scratches and abrasions by MeoShield anti-scratch coatings.
The binocular is designed with ergonomics in mind to minimize user fatigue during long observations. The housing is engineered from a lightweight high-strength aluminum alloy and is nitrogen-filled and sealed for fogproof and waterproof performance. A closed bridge design houses a dual center wheel that provides focusing and also has an integrated diopter corrector.

Meopta 10x42 MeoStar B1 HD Binocular (Green-Black)
There is nothing negative that I can say about these Meopta Meostar B1 10x42 HD binoculars. I've tested them times of dawn, daylight and dusk. Clarity, brightness and contrast are just as superb as Swarovski, Zeiss and Leica, however, a lot less money! Can't wait to go hunting with this this autumn of 2018!
Great binoculars! I have owned them for a little over two years now I couldn't be more pleased with them. I use the 10x42s and can say with confidence that they deliver some of the brightest, most crisp viewing I've ever experienced in a 10x42 binocular. I am an avid birder and rely heavily on the binocular to deliver these types of results. I have put these to the test in a variety of field conditions and have had zero issues with fogging or water. I am constantly in the field with my job and I am very hard on equipment and can say that these were built with longevity and durability in mind. Plus Meopta's HD lens design can't be matched (I own the Meostar S2 Spotter as well). In short, I would highly recommend these to someone that wants a high-end pair of binoculars while achieving the best bang for your buck. There's a reason these get ranked as one of the best HD binoculars in the world.
Meopta Meostar B1 8x42 Binoculars.
I have now had the pleasure of owning and using these binoculars in the 8x42 version for three+ years. (The 8x42 models are no longer imported into America. But, still made for the rest of the world market. They can still be had from Meopta USA on a Special Order bases!) I can see no reason why anything said about the 8x42's would not apply to the B1 10x42's! I have used, and compared these binoculars almost on a weekly bases: side by side with my Leica Ultravid HD 8x42 binoculars, Swarovski EL 8.5x42 binoculars, Swarovski SLC 8x50 binoculars, Meopta Meopro 8x42 binocularboth newer & previous versions of the Meopro 8x42's., and Minox's BL-HD 8x44 binoculars. These binoculars are one of the FINEST binoculars available on the market at ANY PRICE! At their current selling price; they are a BEST VALUE purchase steal!! With any of the so called Big Three brands selling for twice, to almost three times the cost! The ergonomics of these binocular's when in your hand's is excellent! One of the very best I've ever held and used. The very first time I picked these binoculars up and put them to my eye's: I was amazed at how they just felt RIGHT in my hand's!! These binocular's have the BRIGHTEST field of view of ANY binocular I've ever owned, or have ever tested! Bar None! They have an excellent depth of field, are sharp right to the edges, with no light fall off at the edges, very good to excellent contrast and resolving power, no readily discernible chromatic aberrations, and an excellent focus range. They are made with Zeiss Schott optical glass lenses with Meopta's excellent MeoBright multi-coating's. And the diopter adjustment locks cleanly into place. And they have an excellent heavy rubber armoring on them. They are supplied with a padded, really good binocular strap, and a nice binocular case. After several years of personal use, and multiple Demo use by many Birder's that have gone out Birding with me; the only complaint ever voiced by anyone, was that they are a little on the heavy side. But, every one that stated this said: In no way would this ever stop them from purchasing this excellent super quality, and super value priced binocular! And that they could hardly believe they could get THIS MUCH binocular for the money? I agree with them totally! I even purchased a second pair of these Meostar B1 8x42 binoculars. They come with an excellent warranty, and the people at Meopta USA are a pleasure to deal with! I only question why the 8x42 model was stopped being imported into the USA on a regular bases? Because 8x42 binoculars are now considered the standard preferred Birding binocular? I would recommend these binoculars to ANY level Birder. Bar none.
Lexus quality at Honda price
I have owned the Meoptas HD 10x42 since December 2012. My primary use is hunting and wildlife viewing. After owning Vortex, Swarovski and looking through Zeiss and other high-end glass, I can say without a doubt the Meoptas hang with the elite binocular brands. I recently returned Swaro ELs when viewing them side by side at dusk with my Meoptas. This fall I used the Meoptas in the Northern Rockies hunting elk for a week in rain, sleet and snow. Never once did they fog up, even when going from warm tents to frigid cold and precip. Do yourself a favor before you spend at least a grand more than you need to, take a look through the Meoptas and compare them with whatever you're considering. Unless you absolutely have to have the right brand name around your neck, if it comes down to quality for price, you will be buying the Meopta HD 10x42.
Great Product: Understament.
I find the optical clarity to be among the best out there. Ergonomics of these binoculars make for easy glassing for long periods of time. Easy to hold and function the focus wheel.I gave these binoculars a 5 stars, they rate a 10 for me.
