Q & A
What is the detection range on the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
The detection range for a man-sized object with the
ATLAS Thermal Binocular (50mm Lens) is 2250 meters or over 1.25 miles.
Larger objects such as boats and navigational buoys can be detected by
ATLAS at further distances. The detection range of the ATLAS Thermal
Binocular with the 25mm lens is 1025 meters
Does the ATLAS Thermal Binocular float?
Yes. ATLAS is nitrogen purged and hermetically sealed to ensure air tightness and floatability.
How many photos can I store on my ATLAS Thermal Binocular at a time?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular’s internal memory allows for the storage of up to 60 photos at a time.
What is the refresh rate on the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
The ATLAS refresh rate is 60Hz.
What kind of batteries does the ATLAS Thermal Binocular require?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular operates on (3) x CR123 Batteries.
Can the ATLAS Thermal Binocular operate on an external power source?
ATLAS Thermal Binocular works from any external USB
power source (power banks/bricks, USB chargers, computer ports, as long
as USB output is rated at least 1A). USB cable is shipped with every
unit.
Can rechargable batteries be used with the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
No, the use of recharable batteries may damage your unit and should not be used.
Is the ATLAS Thermal Binocular equipped with a zoom feature?
Yes, the ATLAS Thermal Binocular is equipped with 2x and 4x digital zoom options.
Is the ATLAS Thermal Binocular waterproof?
Yes, the ATLAS Thermal Binocular is both durable and
waterproof. The ATLAS Thermal Binocular is credited with an IP67
Waterproof Rating. The ATLAS is also nitrogen purged and hermetically sealed to ensure airtightness.
Can I record video files with the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
Yes, the ATLAS Thermal Binocular is capable of recording live video via an external DVR.
Can I transfer photographs captured with the ATLAS Thermal Binocular to my personal computer?
Yes, images can easily be transferred from the ATLAS Thermal Binocular to your personal computer via USB.
How many polarity modes are available on the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular offers 4 different
polarity modes including White Hot, Black Hot, Thermal Color, and a
unique Edge Detect mode not found on any other commercially available
thermal binoculars.
At what range do you claim the ATLAS Thermal
Binocular can detect the heat signature of a human head while floating
in the water?
Based on our observations under different conditions we are
reasonably confident that a man’s head sized heat signature would be
detectable in the water up to approximately 1000 meters away. However,
we do not pretend to claim a specific range for this type of incident.
We, just like everybody else, base our detection (as well as recognition
and identification) ranges off of the US Army DRI model for detection
of a standard man size figure.
There are no industry/military accepted DRI modeling tools for man
overboard conditions. This is one of the reasons we don’t specify what
it is or may be. Ranges of detection are influenced by many
environmental factors such as water temperature, moisture levels in the
air, the size of the individual / object being identified, the
qualification level of the observer, etc. In cases of a man overboard
recovery, the height of the waves and elevation of the observation point
from the sea level are also very important.
What is included in the ATLAS Thermal Binocular Kit?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular Kit includes and ATLAS
Thermal Binocular, Rugged Carrying Case, Neck Strap, Lens Cover, and
Lens Cleaning Kit.
How long is the battery life for the ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular’s (3) CR-123 batteries provide a continuous operating life of approximately 4 hours.
How much does the ATLAS Thermal Binocular weigh?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular with a 50mm lens weighs 575g / 20.2 oz. The binocular wiht 25mm lens weighs 525g /18.5 oz.
What is the ATLAS Thermal Binocular’s Field of View?
9 x 7 degrees with the 50mm lens and 18 x 14 degrees with the 25mm lens.
What is the warranty on ATLAS Thermal Binocular?
The ATLAS Thermal Binocular is covered under N-Vision Optic
