SIIISS 10-50, 8-32 & 6-24 Series Available Downloads
This is the first Sightron scope that I have ever owned. Not
many retailers carry them so I was a little reserved about ordering but
decided to take a chance based on reviews. I was not disappointed. I
bought this scope at the same time I bought a Nightforce Benchrest
10-42x56mm. Side by side in normal light conditions they are equal,
only in lower light conditions does the Nightforce excel over the
Sightron. I ordered the fine cross hair with a center dot reticle and
am very happy with it. I mounted the scope to a Savage 6.5mm Creedmoor
LRP rifle. I am still breaking the gun so I have not shot it out past
200 yards yet. I would recommend the large wheel focus knob as the
paralax focus is very touchy. I think the $140 price tag for the wheel
is steep and a person could probably make something that would be
functional. The reticle is not illuminated which is fine 98% of the
time. But I was focusing on black background targets at 400 yards and
it was easy to lose the "dot" in the middle of the scope. The
Nightforce Benchrest is illuminated and helped greatly in this
situation...however it also cost $600 more than the Sightron. Also a
little disappointed that you have to order a sun shade separate from the
scope. Most higher end scopes anymore come with them.
Wolf1's Review of Sightron SIII SS 10-50x60 Side Focus Long Range Riflescope
Every review is based on that individuals experience. When
investing this kind of money you want to make sure that the product and
the backing/support for this product are excellent. My experience
started off a bit rough. After about 400 rds. through my 308 I noticed
small black flecks on the reticle. I notified Sightron and they sent me a
return label. I sent the scope back to them. I received my scope back
in about 1 week. Upon shooting I noticed small spots on the inner
optics, almost like little organisms (remember at 50 power everything
can be seen). I notified Sightron again, they sent me another return
label and fixed the problem, all the problems at no cost to me. As far
as the scope, excellent, but many don't use 50 power scopes, so heat
waves at the hottest point of the day blur vision, muzzle heat will blur
vision (like most scopes) but will dissipate. Zeroing or doping in is
quick and easy, quick focus is awesome. I have now fired about 4000 rds
through my 308 with the Sightron, no movement, no canting, stays zero'd
in. I am shooting at 350 to 675 yds, and my groups are dead on. For me,
this product is excellent and the company I found stands behind their
product (all avid hunters and shooters). Always remember this fact,
don't anger the people who serve you your food, do your taxes and may
have to fix your scope....sugar is better than vinegar. I have owned
this product for approx. 1.5 years...no issues after they cleaned
optics. Wolf 1 Presidential Overwatch USAF/SF
