Sky-Watcher USA partnered with Starlight Xpress and assembled the Quattro 250P Reflector Telescope with Trius Camera Kit
to give astroimagers a complete rig that delivers outstanding
performance, especially for capturing deep-sky objects like faint
galaxies and wispy nebulae.
This kit comes with a fast Newtonian
reflector telescope and the Starlight Xpress Trius monochrome imaging
camera. The optical tube assembly (OTA) was specifically designed for
imaging with a large 254mm aperture, fully multi-coated borosilicate
mirrors, and an impressive f/4 focal ratio. To address a common issue
when imaging deep-sky objects with reflectors, Sky-Watcher also includes
a coma corrector that ensures crisp clearly delineated stars without
distortion or halos even at the edges. The Trius imaging kit comes
complete with a Lodestar guide camera to ensure a compatible motorized
mount is accurately tracking and a seven-position filter wheel for
creating custom images using colored and specialty filters that are easy
to change between exposures.
The telescope comes with mounting
rings and a Vixen-style dovetail plate, so you only need to supply a
large equatorial mount and tripod to begin capturing stunning images.
Sky-Watcher's 10" f/3.94 Quattro Imaging Newtonian Telescope
has been specifically engineered for astrophotography and astro-imaging
performance. Its 1000mm focal length has been shortened to produce a
fast f/3.94 focal ratio which helps to reduce the exposure times
required for capturing detailed images of the Moon, planets, and
deep-sky objects. To further help boost it's performance are
borosilicate mirrors which have a low coefficient of thermal expansion
to reduce the effects of expansion/contraction due to temperature
fluctuation. This helps limit distortion that can occur when moving the
OTA from indoors to outdoors and limiting the scope's ability to resolve
details. The entire optical system is fully multi-coated to increase
the reflectivity of all surfaces to prouce brighter and sharper images.
imaging and visual use, the ability to achieve tack-sharp focus is
critical, so Sky-Watcher outfitted the Quattro with a large 2"
Crayford-style focuser. This design uses a steel rod held tightly
against the focus tube under tension. Using this toothless friction
system eliminates backlash and enables ultra-fine precision focusing. A
large coarse-focus wheel quickly brings subjects into rough focus, and
then the 10:1 fine-focus allows the user to precisely focus it without
the risk of losing it as soon as the knob is released. Having the
ability to use larger 2" accessories and eyepieces provides an immersive
experience during observation sessions and the ability to use larger
sensors for capturing images.
The Quattro is offered here without a
mount or tripod for users that have a solid observation platform. Its
cradle ring assembly clamps over the OTA and allows the OTA to be
positioned for balancing when mounted, the eyepiece to be precisely
placed for more comfortable observations, and the entire rig to be
adjusted to avoid interference with other equipment and accessories. A
Vixen-style dovetail plate on the bottom of the cradle ring assembly
makes this OTA compatible with any Vixen-style saddle.
Optimized for Quattro imaging Newtonians, the Sky-Watcher Quattro Coma Corrector,
delivers stunning wide-field views with pinpoint stars to the edge of
the field while the magnification remains unaltered. Made with extra-low
dispersion (ED) FPL51 and Schott glass with a fast f/4 focal ratio for
imaging, this accessory corrects for chromatic and spherical aberrations
that create halos to appear around bright stars and other objects and
cause colors to shift. Using the corrector enables users to achieve
tack-sharp focus with true color rendition across the entire field of
view - especially at the edges. It fits into 2" focusers and requires a
backfocus of 55mm (2.16").
The Starlight Xpress Trius SX-42 Monochrome Camera Imaging Kit was assembled as part of a joint effort between Sky-Watcher USA
and Starlight Xpress in honor of Sky-Watcher's 20th Anniversary and
specifically designed to address all the normal confusion new imagers
have when setting up their first system. The camera system's 17mm
back-focus distance (±1mm) is matched for all Sky-Watcher correctors and
simply threads onto the corrector for fast and easy setup. This kit
includes Starlight Xpress' Trius 694 monochrome imaging camera, their
Lodestar X2 monochrome guide camera, plus a seven-position filter wheel
equipped with a built-in off-axis guider (OAG). With low power
consumption and a compact lightweight design, this imaging kit is the
ideal starter rig for anyone interested in astroimaging.
An OAG is
included, allowing you to use the filter wheel independent of the Trius
for observation purposes without losing the convenient auto-correcting
functionality of the Trius' guide scope.
