Takahshi has just introduced an updated version of the original FC-100 now called the FC-100D. It has been designed for the digital age. The FC-100D uses the Steinheil design with the fluorite element in the rear and an eco-glass front element. The focal ratio has been reduced to f/7.4 with a 740mm fl.

The FC-100D was designed with a goal of being light weight and highly portable. It is offered in two light weight models: the ultra-portable DC visual model that weighs just 2.8kg [6.1lbs] uses the 2.2”FS-60CB focuser. While the DF model uses the 2.7” focuser and is designed to be used for imaging as well as visual using the dedicated four element FC-35 .66x new reducer that changes the focal ratio to f/4.9 with a Ø 44mm circle at a focal length of 485mm.

FC-100DC

The FC-100DC model features a fixed dew shield and a 2.2 inch rack and pinion focuser. While a capable imaging instrument, it is designed with the visual observer in mind.

FC-100DF

The FC-100DF is optically identical to the DC model, but features an enhanced 2.7–inch focuser. It also features a shorter tube length that provides additional back focus for digital imaging applications. This added back focus allows use of the FC-35RD reducer, which converts the DF to an f/5.4 instrument.

FC-100DL

The FC-100DL is a full-fledged long focal length apochromatic refractor from Takahashi. This is the same FC-100DL that was offered in limited quantities in previous years. With the exception of the focal length, it is identical to the FC-100DF.
