Product Highlights
  • Extra-Low Dispersion Glass Objectives
  • Phase-Corrected BAK4 Roof Prisms
  • Fully Multi-Coated Optics
  • Wide 65° Apparent Angle of View

Sporting a versatile combination of magnification and objective lens size, with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and fully multi-coated optical surfaces, the Vixen Optics Foresta II ED 8x32 DCF Binoculars deliver bright and sharp high-contrast images with true-to-life color and crisp clarity on the trail, out on the water, or sightseeing around town.

To help offset the dimming that can happen due to the somewhat limited light-gathering ability of the 32mm objectives, and to improve overall image quality, Vixen utilizes phase-corrected coatings on the prisms and ED glass lenses. The glass and coatings ensure views remain bright and clear and improve color rendition and contrast while limiting distortion and internal interference. The smaller objectives keep the form factor compact so the binoculars will be comfortable to carry and use all day on the trail. The moderate magnification helps to produce the comfortable exit pupil and eye relief to limit eye fatigue during long days in the field, and the wide angle of view presents you with an immersive observational experience from first light and past the last rays of sunset.

Designed to withstand the rigors of the trail, the optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature variations. The chassis is made from an aluminum alloy to make the binoculars lightweight and corrosion resistant without sacrificing strength and stability. To further cut weight while providing you with more area to grip, Vixen employs an open-bridge configuration with a dual hinge. An oversized, knurled center focusing wheel allows for sharp focusing even while wearing gloves. For long-duration glassing sessions, or to reduce fatigue from holding them to your eyes, the Foresta II ED can be mounted on a tripod or other support system using an optional adapter.

Optical Performance

  • Moderate 8x power magnifies view while preserving a wide exit pupil and long eye relief to improve viewing comfort
  • 32mm objectives gather more light than compact models, without the bulk and weight of larger-objective models for easier carrying and handling in the field
  • Compact roof prism light path ensures the optical tubes are thin to fit more comfortably in the hand
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for increased contrast, improved color rendition, and sharpness without distortion across the entire field of view
  • Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optical surfaces maximize light transmission to ensure views are bright and clear in all conditions
  • Wide 65° apparent angle of view helps to reduce the appearance of distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics, while presenting an immersive observational experience
  • 425-foot field of view

Use and Handling

  • Open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stability
  • Large slip-resistant center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions or when wearing gloves
  • Locking right-eye dioptric correction enables tack-sharp images; lift focus wheel to set diopter and push back down to lock it in position
  • 59-78mm interpupillary adjustment range allows for comfortable handling by a wide variety of users
  • Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue
  • Comfortable 16.5mm eye relief reduces eyestrain for easier viewing
  • 4mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate as light fades to keep the entire scene in view without vignetting
