The Star 71mm f/4.9 Imaging refractor is according to William Yang of William Optics, " the best imaging scope we've ever built."
Like it's predecessor, the ZenithStar 71, the Star 71 is highly portable. Weighs only 6 pounds and is just over 1 foot long. This telescope can go anywhere including under an airplane seat! It's a great grab-and-go scope for the digital astrophotographer.
The optical design of the Star71 is a unique, patented design using four element in three groups with FPL-53 glass to produce color free, pin-point images across a flat field. No flatteners or reducers are needed.
The lens cell, powder-coated white, gold-accented optical tube assembly, and dew shield are all CNC-machined.
A heavy- duty 2.5" rack and pinion 10:1 dual-speed focuser is super sturdy and will not slip when locked down, even with heavier cameras attached.
This package includes mounting rings, a 150mm Vixen style dovetail and a wide M48-Canon EOS adapter ring.

In addition to utilizing the highest quality FPL-53 glass, four elements are configured in three groups- a unique, patented design- not the conventional objective/flattener/reducer design, that affords pinpoint stars from edge to edge covering a 45mm full frame imaging circle-- an astrophotographer's dream especially since this little jewel of a telescope includes a robust 2.5" dual speed rack and pinion focuser that even incorporates a temperature gauge.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ The drawtube terminates in male M48 thread to which a wide M48-Canon EOS adapter ring (included) can be attached.

This is not a conventional 2" focuser tube with locking thumbscrews. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ For those wishing to use this very portable telescope as a visual instrument, an optional 1.25" 90 degree dielectric mirror diagonal is available separately. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ The diagonal comes with a custom adapter that connects directly to the telescope. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ (Please note: Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ standard 1.25" diagonals are not compatible with this scope which also will not reach focus with larger 2" diagonals.

The CNC-machined optical tube assembly, that weighs no more than six pounds, is finished in William Optics traditional pristine white with gold trim.
