Product Highlights
  • Compact and Lightweight Design
  • 45° Angled Viewing
  • 9-27x Zoom Eyepiece
  • Large 56mm Objective Lens

From your backyard patio to the deepest back country adventure, the Celestron Hummingbird 9-27x56 Spotting Scope is designed to be your constant companion wherever you enjoy watching birds, bees, and other wildlife. Measuring just over 8 inches long with a comfortable 45° angled eyepiece, this spotter will easily fit in your pack or pocket and can be used mounted to a tripod or simply held by hand for fast glassing on the go.

Its broad 9-27x magnification range lets you scan wide swaths of the landscape looking for targets with the ability to crank up the power for an up-close look when you find something interesting. A large objective lens is optimized for long-distance observations with the light-gathering capability required to keep views bright and crisp even in challenging light or when you're observing a subject on max magnification at extreme long range. To further improve light transmission, Celestron employs BAK4 prism glass and phase-correcting prism coatings, with anti-reflection multi-coatings on the lens system. These features work together to ensure views are bright and clear with high contrast and sharp resolution.

The compact housing is covered in a protective rubber armor that provides sure handling while you're setting it up or breaking it down on a tripod or pulling it from your pocket to take a quick look up a ridge. A standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount lets you attach it to most photo/video/field tripods, tripod heads, or quick release plates. Celestron also includes a woven nylon carrying case that has both a removable shoulder strap and a belt strap to give a variety of carrying options in the field.

Optical Performance

  • Broad 9-27x magnification range enables users to scan wide swaths of the terrain for targets with the ability to zoom in and make detailed observations and positive identification
  • Large 56mm objective lens diameter ensures views remain bright and crisp in low or challenging light or when viewing subjects at long range on maximum magnification
  • BAK4 roof prism light path delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission to produce high-contrast views with sharp clarity and resolution
  • Phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal interference for improved contrast and resolution
  • 9.8' minimum focus distance for viewing small subjects like hummingbirds, insects, and flora & fauna
  • 220-foot field of view at 1000 yards on 9x, 97-foot on 27x

Use and Handling

  • Eyepiece is set at a 45° angle to the body to place the head in a comfortable viewing position whether the user is standing, sitting, or lying prone
  • Large focusing and power selector collars are slip resistant so adjustments are easy in cold and wet weather or while wearing gloves
  • Twist-up rubber eye cup for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Standard 1/4"-20 tripod mounting to make it compatible with most photo/video/field tripods, heads, and quick release plates
  • 15mm eye relief reduces eyestrain, especially during long observation sessions
  • Wide 6.2mm exit pupil at 9x will completely cover the pupil as it opens and fully dilates in low light, so the whole scene remains in view

Construction Details

  • Compact and lightweight construction; measures just over 8 inches long and weighs under 21 ounces
  • Nitrogen-filled waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in environmental conditions or temperatures
