New Meopta R2 RifleScopes?
Looks like Meopta is revamping the 30mm line with some nice
improvements. More eye relief, 6X zoom range, new illumination system,
hydro coatings (MeoDrop), mil spec coatings (MeoShield), low light
weighted (like Zeiss does and now Leupold
too), not super heavy and two nice zoom ranges (1.7-10x42 and 2-12x50).
I always liked Meopta riflescopes but their ER was very short before
this (90mm/3.54 inches). Meopta
riflescopes are already designed to provide low-light dominance to the
North American hunter, but Meopta's new MeoLux lens coating clearly
separates Meopta from the herd by providing industry-leading light
transmission through the entire visible spectrum. The advanced MeoLux
technology, premium Schott glass lenses and expert design enable 99.8%
light transmission per glass surface resulting in 95% transmission
through the entire scope. This allows hunters to see more clearly in
the lowest light of morning and into the last light of evening. As with
all Meopta optics, the new MeoStar delivers a crystal clear, bright
image with exceptional color reproduction. Simply put, seeing better
helps you hunt longer and make lethal shots safely in lower light.Meopta
engineers have also created a brand-new illumination system for the R2
series which is visible even in the brightest of daylight. This new RD8
illumination system has eight levels of reticle intensity so the
brightness level of the red dot can be adjusted to accommodate the
ever-changing light and weather conditions in the field from the
brightest sunshine and snow to the dimmest light.
windage and elevation turrets are quickly re-settable to zero and easy to
grip, even with gloves on. The hydrophobic MeoDrop lens coatings
ensure the highest level of visual clarity, easily repelling rain, snow,
skin oils and dirt. Focal adjustment is also quick and easy thanks to
Meopta's MeoQuick fast-focus eyepiece, and the external lens surfaces
are protected from scratches and abrasion by the robust MeoShield
Like all Meopta riflescopes, the MeoStar R2 riflescope
is machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy and
built to withstand extreme conditions. The scope features an anodized
exterior for scratch resistance and is waterproof, shockproof and
fogproof for maximum performance and durability.
Meopta - optika s.r.o.
- Czech Republic's main manufacturer of optical products for industrial
and scientific uses, sport optics, and gunsights for civilian and
MIL/LE purposes - announced on September 23rd, 2015 that its MeoStar R2 line of riflescopes was awarded with the prestigious Connaissance de la Chasse prize as the best hunting riflescope on the French market for the year 2015.
The Connaissance de la Chasse award (Connaissance de la Chasse translates into "Hunting knowledge" in English) takes its name from the eponymous hunting-related magazine
that runs and grants it, and is highly coveted among firearms,
ammunition, optics and accessories manufacturers in Europe and
With over 1.300.000 very active
hunters and a growing trend, France is Europe's main market for all
hunting-related accessories in Europe.
The Connaissance de la Chasse award is granted to specific products in each category following a survey between active hunters who read the Connaissance de la Chasse magazine.
More specifically, the award was granted to the 2-12x50 variant of the Meopta MeoStar R2 line of riflescopes, which also includes a 1,7-10x42, a 1-6x24 and a 2,5-15x56 variant.
entries in the Meopta MeoStar R2 line of riflescopes are built around a
30mm black hard-anodized, machined aluminum tube and currently
represent Meopta's top line of sport optics, with a plethora of features
and a performance level that make them equally suited for hunting and
long-range sport shooting.

that Meopta uses premium-quality Schott glass for its lenses, this
yields one of the brightest hunting riflescopes on
the market. Individual lens components are meticulously ground and
polished in-house and precisely matched for superior performance.
Another feature of the Meopta MeoStar R2 line of riflescopes is the MeoDrop - a proprietary hydrophobic lens coating designed to repel
water, grease, skin oils and lens surface contaminates that can impair
Applied to all external
lens surfaces, this microscopic hydrophobic layer repels water so that rain and moisture forms a tight
ball and simply rolls off the lens surface.
MeoDrop coated lenses are

maintain the highest level of visual clarity.
