The MeoStar S2 82 HD Straight from Meopta
is a technologically advanced Porro spotting scope and a precision long
distance observation instrument. The straight eyepiece socket allows
faster target acquisition and an easier follow of moving objects. The
multi-coatings which are proprietary MB5501TM ion assisted, deliver an
exceptionally bright image. The exceptionally sized 82mm objective lens
boasts extra-low dispersion, two-part fluoride element and HD resolution
providing increased contrast and vivid color fidelity while eliminating
chromatic aberration or color. An oversized, silky smooth, central
drive makes focusing easy - even when wearing thick gloves. The internal
magnesium chassis keeps the scope lightweight and strong. A
quick-release bayonet mount allows rapid eyepiece changes with the push
of a button and an integrated lens shade reduces glare in challenging
light conditions. For birders and nature lovers, the MeoStar S2 82 HD
will deliver bright, precise images from incredible distances.

Meopta S2 HD 82mm Spotting Scope Review (see more details)
Meopta has provided another optic that
fully competes with the class-leaders, only at a lower price point. The
more expensive Zeiss maintains a very slight advantage over the Meopta
in low light performance and features a higher maximum magnification.
However, the Meopta takes the lead in field of view, depth of field, and
contrast, while giving up nothing in apparent resolution (at similar
magnification). In fact, I preferred the Meopta image at 60x to that of
the Zeiss at 60x. When considering the lower cost, I think the Meopta S2
spotter should be given close consideration by hunters looking for a
top-level spotter. I would prefer the Meopta with the 30-60 WA over any
spotter I have yet seen with a traditional 20-60 zoom. The Meopta S2 HD
is also the only spotter in its price range with a high magnification
eyepiece available.
MeoStar S2 82 has earned the BEST VALUE rating from Petersen’s Hunting magazine
Meopta’s highly acclaimed, European-made MeoStar S2 82 spotting scope
has earned the BEST VALUE rating from Petersen’s Hunting magazine. The
extensive test conducted by the Petersen’s Hunting optics team included
more than $40,000 worth of spotting scopes featuring 80mm or larger
objectives and an angled eyepiece from multiple optics manufacturers. A
total of 14 scopes were tested and Meopta received the second highest
score overall, beating out many highly-regarded, big-name brands from
Europe and around the globe. This review is seen in both the Petersen’s
Hunting September issue and its 2014 Annual Gear Issue and further
enhances Meopta’s ever-growing reputation for exceptional performance
and value.
Here is some of what the team had to say about Meopta’s spotting scope:
“The Meopta is an incredible optic………Priced at $2,200…the MeoStar
earns our Best Buy Award for offering an image that rivals scopes
costing twice as much.”
“The MeoStar offers a very sharp, crisp image with a hint of warm
tint. In fact, this scope tested near-perfect scores during the two
100-yard resolutions tests.”
“Color fidelity was true…the MeoStar offers a perfect weight balance….It was no problem reading signage placed at one mile.”
Reinhard Seipp, general manager and COO of Meopta USA, said, “We
greatly appreciate the time and effort the Petersen’s Hunting team put
into this comprehensive test. Their findings further validate what
those who have used our product already know, and that is Meopta is
synonymous with performance and value. In fact, many of our sales
occur as a result of word of mouth. Hunters try our optics and tell
their friends about them. We appreciate this and our focus will
continue to be on our customers and giving them the best optical
performance possible at a great price point.”

I've
been hunting big game since 1971, and since 2000 I have also guided
over 130 hunters for mule deer, aoudad, antelope, and whitetails, The
optics in this scope are as good as it gets, and I've owned all the Big 3
spotters as well as a Kowa . This S2 is as good as it gets,
especially at higher magnifications. It is rugged and very well built
as well.

This
is a great scope for any price, I've spent hundreds of hours behind it
in the last year and I can't say enough good things about it. It's
incredibly bright, and fights mirage as ANY scope I've sat behind. I
strongly recommend this scope.
